The images shown here were photographed in Wünsdorf-Waldstadt, Germany. A city, which is situated 40 km from Berlin. It was the biggest Soviet army base in East Europe during the cold war and was known as Little Moscow. To the locals it was “The Forbidden City”. The East Germans weren’t allowed to enter. I witnessed a place testifying to the fact that people, mostly Soviet officers and their families had lived there. There is a theatre entrance hall, cinema, kindergarten, and paint peeling off walls in spaces long abandoned. Being there, felt empty and silent. In other words, a world before and after.
