He has participated in solo exhibitions and group exhibitions in museums, galleries and photo festivals among them - Tel Aviv Museum of Art, MACT / CACT Museo & Centro Arte Contemporanea Switzerland, Moseo de Arte Bogota Colombia, Landeshaus Cologne, Foto Festival Naarden The Netherlands. Herchkovitz’s works have been published in books, magazines, and catalogs and are on private collections worldwide.
Lior Herchkovitz photographic work often influenced by historical materials and artists of the past. Both his portraiture and landscape equally address human condition and emotion. It is this feeling of isolation, powerlessness and ambivalent atmosphere that he portrays. Herchkovitz does this by showing states of emotional tension, vulnerability, and unease. He is never wholly taken over by the desire to photograph what it is being seen immediately in front of him, nor treating his subjects in an entirely naturalistic fashion, but using color and composition almost expressionistically; to manifest the intensity of feeling that he sense and attempts to convey to the viewer. The essential questions of emotion and the visual impression that his photographs give merely emphasizes the conflict, the strength and the weakness of a particular setting. The image he forms comes out in the process of work, where words become redundant.
